
At the age of 32, and less than a week home from my honeymoon, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.
I was shocked and scared. And even though I had the love and support of my family and friends, I felt alone. There were no other young women in the support groups. The other patients in the chemotherapy rooms were much older than me. And the information and research I read was all geared towards the average age that women are diagnosed - 65 years old.
But I found Young Survival Coalition (YSC) online and that changed everything I was feeling. I felt educated and empowered and inspired and no longer alone.
I became a volunteer and helped to co-founded the central Ohio affiliate. I sat on National committees. I was asked to join the National Board of Directors, and eventually became Vice-President and then President.
Along the way I also co-founded a team for the YSC's charity bike ride, Tour de Pink. Our team, Feel My Buckeyes, has since grown to over 16 riders with representation on the East and West coast rides. Although I haven't ridden in 2 years, I have supported the team as a massage therapist.
Now with my own business, I continue to support YSC in the following ways:

- Starting January 2017, $1 of every massage service is donated to YSC.
